Task #1

Answer to question:  After finding the roots using the quadratic formula (Formula: ), youmay find that you are left with 2 different real roots, or 2 of the same real roots, or 2 complex/unreal roots. you can find how many roots there are by using the discriminant( Formula:  ).

If the dicriminant is Formula:  you have 2 different real roots,

if the discriminant is Formula:  you will have 2 of the same real roots,

and if the dicriminant is Formula you will be left with no roots but with 2 complex numbers instead

Equation: Formula

Task #2

Answer to question:  You can tell by looking at an exponential equation in transformational form, Formula, what the range of the function is by

first finding the "VT" (vertical translation), which is also the horizontal asymptote, then you have to find the "VS" (vertical stretch), if the VS is Positive, range =Formula. If the VS is Negative, range = Formula.
