Task 1

Question:What can you tell about the graph of a quadratic function based on the roots you get from solving the quadratic formula for that equation?

Answer: Based on the roots of quadratic the discriminant is an equation that indicates both the types of roots a quadratic has and how many x-intercepts there are.

Discriminant Equation: Formula

If the discriminant is greater than zero then there two real roots and two x-intercepts Graph.gr

If the discriminant is equal to zero than are two equal real roots. Graph0.gr

If the discriminant is less than zero then there are no x-interepts and 2 complex roots. Graph1.gr
