Answer to question: The quadratic formula can get you the x-intercepts of a graph, which will tell you if a graph has 2, 1, or 0 x-intercepts. If the discriminant("d") is greater than 0 then the graph will have 2 x-intercepts along with 2 different roots for the equation. If the "d" has a value equal to 0 then the graph will have 1 x-intercept (meaning the vertex is on the x axis) and 2 equal roots. If the "d" is less then 0, then the roots will be complex numbers and the graph will have no x-intercepts.
